Everybody has been talking about information products…

And the question is: what do we have to do in order to develop our own info product?

Well, if you’d like to develop a great infoproduct which is based on written text, audio and video, then here’s what you’d be doing…

    1) Product Research

Firstly, you’ll have to research whether the product has a buyers market.

You see, there’s always the possibility of lots of interest, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that your niche market is ready to BUY an infoproduct on the topic at stake.

Next, if there is a Demand, you’ll have to research what are the problems that do have a Demand but also require a solution. I mean, what are the most common questions being asked in relation to this specific problem.

    2) Product Development

It’s important to make sure your infoproduct accommodates the various ways each one of us enjoy “consuming” information.

Sure you could just stick with a video but what about your potential buyers who prefer MP3 audio

And what about the ones who prefer reading text?

So, for your video, you’ll have to record a screen capture or use a webcam to record your content, and I personally use Camtasia Studio software.

For your audio, you’ll have to record it using your PC microphone – and you’ll also need Skype if you are planning to interview an expert over a phone line, and then you save as MP3.

For your ebook, you’ll write the content in Word and then convert it to PDF.

Next, you’ll upload all these files to a web hosting account, where you’ll also have to select a domain name.

    3) Set-up

It’s also critical that you’ll have an autoresponder (for lead generation and sales follow-ups) and you’ll
also need a Business PayPal or ClickBank account in order to process credit cards and collect sales.

And you’ll also need a proper conversion tracking script.

I personally use the EasyclickMate script, and it’ll even allow you to setup and recruit affiliates via ClickBank’s network.

And the autoresponder script I personally use is ListMail.

    4) Sales System

You’ll now require professional ecover graphics (virtual covers) for your infoproduct.

And (most important) you’ll need a high quality sales letter with proven sales copy so that your infoproduct has some chances of generating sales for you.

You’ll then need the backend webpages (I mean, setting up the thank you / download webpage)
and the autoresponder sequences built into your sales process.

    5) Test, test, test!

At this stage, it’s important to properly test everything so far, before going live.
Place test orders (with ClickBank, it’s easy).
Have others review your webpages, your sales offer and your infoproduct.
I personally give out lots of review copies, in order to generate initial favorable testimonials,
which should be placed on your sales page.

    6) Internet Marketing

Your next step is to bring visitors to your webpage.
This is done from your advertising / marketing efforts.
You’ll need a comprehensive strategy (and a budget) for how you’ll handle your initial traffic generation
    process.

    7) Tweaking / Testing / Customer Support

As you drive more and more traffic to your webpage, you’ll be able to test several variables of
what’s working well and what isn’t generating sales.

You’ll be able to tweak the entire sales system… make adjustments to your infoproduct and obviously
you’ll also provide support to your new customers.

An Alternative To The Seven Steps Above

You see, there are many steps that you could save yourself months of work and thousands of dollars,
by simply starting off with an infoproduct that you purchase Resale Rights to.

This will then allow you to use a market-tested (and proven) infoproduct, that is fully developed,
comes with graphics in place and includes full sales copy.
You then simply upload the files to your server, add your PayPal or ClickBank buttons and be setup immediately.
